Concerned About Sleep Apnea?

Have you or your loved one noticed an increase in snoring? Stop breating while sleeping? You may suffer from Sleep Apnea.

Here are come of the solutions we offer at Vero Beach Ear, Nose and Throat Associates:

Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Excessive Snoring, Loud Snoring, Breath Cessation

Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty
AKA: UP3, UPPP, Sleep Surgery

As the most common procedure to treat sleep apnea caused by snoring, this surgery relieves breathing barriers in the throat by removing the tonsils as well as a portion of the soft palate and uvula. This reshapes the palate in order to open breathing passageways while patients are asleep. In cases where CPAP machines do not alleviate sleep apnea symptoms, doctors may elect to perform this procedure. In some cases, UP3 is also performed in conjunction with other nasal and sinus surgical procedures.

Tongue Base Somnoplasty

In situations in which the tongue is felt to be only a minor contributor to sleep apnea, this stand-alone procedure can be performed. Using a probe, Radiofrequency energy is administered to precisely shrink soft tissue in the upper airway, including the base of the tongue. This opens the air passageway allowing for free breathing during sleep. Somnoplasty is performed under local anesthesia and is minimally invasive, allowing for a shorter recovery time. SNAP Laboratories In Home Sleep Study
AKA: Sleep Study

A portable sleep study is performed in the comfort of the patient’s home under the direction of a physician. A portable device is used to monitor and record sleep respiratory patterns for the evaluation of excessive snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). For select patients, a treatment plan can be initiated based upon the results of a SNAP Home Sleep Study at a markedly reduced cost, as compared to a traditional inpatient sleep study. Injection Snoreplasty

After applying a local anesthetic, a hardening agent is injected into the soft palate to reduce or eliminate the “flutter” that causes patients to snore loudly. This procedure is performed in the office and only takes a few minutes. Most patients can resume normal activities within a few days.
