Donald C. Proctor, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Donald C. Proctor, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S., grew up in Vero Beach and graduated from Vero Beach High School. He returned to the area in 1996 with his wife Allison and their three sons. Dr. Proctor is board certified by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Surgeons and is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Medical Society, and the Indian River County Medical Society.
Dr. Proctor graduated from Vanderbilt University with honors and received his medical doctorate at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He performed a one-year general surgery internship and a four-year Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery residency at Shands Hospital and the University of Florida in Gainesville.
During his residency, Dr. Proctor performed award-winning research involving injectable soft tissue implants. Dr. Proctor has also completed a one-year fellowship in Mohs skin cancer surgery and facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
Currently, Dr. Proctor serves as Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery for Indian River Memorial Hospital. Dr. Proctor is one of a few physicians in the country who is fellowship trained in both facial plastic and reconstructive surgery as well as Mohs skin cancer surgery. This allows patients the convenience of having cancers both excised and reconstructed in our center during the same visit with optimal outcome.
